It is always fun when friends and family want to throw you a bridal shower in destination cities, but what about about when you have moved only 2 hours away from home. Most weddings today are thrown and funded by the bride and groom themselves. Which has resulted in weddings having guest list under 100. With wedding invite lists being limited, having multiple showers can create an issue. You may have some guests invited to showers that you had no intention of inviting to your wedding. That can create awkward situations. Not only for you but also for the host of your additional parties.
The rule of thumb is that if a guest is invited to a bridal shower the guest would also be invited to the wedding. However, you could get around this rule by making sure that the host of your party has informed people that you will be having an intimate affair. This will clear the air long before the bridal shower. If you have made it very clear to your host that you want to keep you wedding a small intimate affair they will not convey your message to guest but insist on throwing you a shower, you should gracefully accept. Have your mom or another person who is close to you pass the message along that a casual get together would be a much better way to go. Like a brunch or cocktails at a local restaurant. This will take the pressure off and lessen the formality.

Just added our Circle Taffeta Wedding and Event Linen to our website to help clients choose linen online. This should make choosing details for their event easier.
We understand that sometime coming into the design studio is not an option because of distance or because of time. We are hoping by creating these online galleries this will give our clients more time in their busy schedules when planning an event.
Come check out the rest of what we have been doing.

Should I feed my vendors?
Yes. many vendors will place a note in their contracts that a "vendor meal" must be provided by the client on day of service. Should you not see it listed, a nice gesture would be to ask. This meal does not have to be the same as you are feeding your guest and your sales and catering manager will assist in this process. Most caterers have a less expensive meal option choice to choose for your vendors. If your venue is accustomed to hosting events all year long they may even have a designated spot for your vendors to dine out of site of your guest. Which allows for a better experience for all. Some clients may ask why this is necessary. Keep in mind that vendors can work on site anywhere from 7 to 14 hours in one day on your event. These are not typically work environments and a designated lunch or dinner break is never scheduled. Nor seldom even an option. There for a run down the street to grab lunch is never accessible. eating onsite is the only way to keep the showing rolling.

Guest with Military Uniform on at your weddings. Appropriate?
One bride was concerned that her cousin who was military was going to steal the show at her wedding by wearing his Military uniform. Was she turning into a bridezilla? Was it going to be a distraction at her wedding? Was she being self centered?
With the way the world is today, we are fortunate to have so many women and men ready, willing and able to volunteer to protect our daily freedom. As long as the person is in the service they are entitled to wear their uniform. Sure they may receive more attention than if they were in civilian clothing, but no need to worry. Nothing can take the focus off the bride and groom on such a special day as their wedding day.

Napkins — Rent, Buy or Make?
Take a look at one brides journey with wedding napkins. Do you know we start our napkin rentals at .50 each? She does bring up a great point and food for thought.
Enjoy~
If I bought, I would look for napkins from one of the discount stores like Kohls or Overstock.com on sale—I’m thinking like 70% off!
I have been searching on the internet and it has been crazy difficult to find the color napkins I want. So I think I may just need to stumble upon them. I am hoping for a dusty peach or rose color, and something with natural fibers and textures. Has anyone seen anything? Pottery Barn would be my style… but not my price range!
Every day I walk past a little gem of a shop—it is called Elegant
Fabrics. Have you heard of it? Yep, it is the place Project Runway went
for oh-so-many seasons. I love their selection of fabrics. It is
unworldly! If you are used to Jo-Ann’s or Walmart you will be gasping
for air when you find this place. There are no quilting calico prints
anywhere!
One of the best things about going to a fabric store in the middle of Fashion District in New York City is that they have swatches ready for you. They are used to fashion and design students asking them for swatches so they are ahead of the game. They have them pre-swatched and hanging from the fabric bolt so you can help yourself and leave the clerks alone!
I wasn’t even considering any fabrics over $19.95—but was really aiming for half this—which wasn’t realistic here. Unfortunately half the fabrics in there were $19.95-$24.95. So that eliminated a few at the get-go.
On the way home I looked at tutorials on how to make dinner napkins. They say I would need about 1 yard of fabric for every 4 dinner napkins. Since all the fabric at Elegant is 60″ not the more common 45″ I could get away with a little less yardage.
But would this be cost effective at $19.95 a yard? Not really!! But I could always keep the napkins for later…?
Would it be worth the trouble of cutting it into square, and perhaps hemming four sides of 75 napkins? What do you think?

Row after row of fabric at Elegant Fabrics NYC
After receiving the quote from Wildflower Linen, I decided that I
should explore other options besides renting—either buying cheap napkins
or making them.If I bought, I would look for napkins from one of the discount stores like Kohls or Overstock.com on sale—I’m thinking like 70% off!

Fabric Swatches
So after work last week I cruised around Elegant Fabric so I could
find that perfect material. It couldn’t be too thin, or too shiny. It
needed to be soft enough to wipe your mouth. One of the best things about going to a fabric store in the middle of Fashion District in New York City is that they have swatches ready for you. The Selections

My favorite — Raw Silk @ $14.95 per yard
It took me a while to find exactly what I wanted but this is
basically it: I like raw silk or dupioni, either in golds, pinks and
peach neutrals, and soft colors with a pop of coral color.I wasn’t even considering any fabrics over $19.95—but was really aiming for half this—which wasn’t realistic here. Unfortunately half the fabrics in there were $19.95-$24.95. So that eliminated a few at the get-go.
